Ambassador Charles Shapiro @ Rotary Club LA September 19th

This Friday at the Rotary Club of Los Angeles:

Ambassador Charles Shapiro

Location:  The City Club on Bunker Hill

333 S. Grand Avenue
Los Angeles
, 90071

Whether you are directly involved in Trade or not, it is a cornerstone of the Southern California economy.  As evidence, the Port of Los Angeles is the busiest and largest seaport in total tonnage in the U.S.  In addition, the recent completion of the Alameda Corridor has helped to speed goods from the port of Long Beach and Los Angeles to the transcontinental rail network.
Ambassador Charles Shapiro is leading the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs’ Task Force for the Free Trade Agreements with PeruColombia and Panama.
Previously Ambassador Shapiro was Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Department of State’s Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs (2005-2007) and U.S. Ambassador to Venezuela (February 2002 until August 2004).  Ambassador Shapiro was the recipient of a Presidential Meritorious Service Award in 2005 and has received various Department of State performance and honor awards.  In 2007 the Government of Chile decorated him with the “Orden al Merito.”
Ambassador Shapiro's talk will address the issues surrounding Free Trade Agreements and his experience as the US Ambassador to Venezuela.

Looking ahead, our speaker will be Arvind Manocha, COO, Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Be sure to visit our “New” Program Website for more information on all upcoming programs.

VentureNet 2008 Costa Mesa September 12, 2008

VentureNet.org was a great event I had the opportunity to attend Friday, September 12, 2008 in Costa Mesa, California. The picture in this blog post has Mike Coffin, Founder of www.lowermybills.com interviewing Jason Calcanis, Founder of www.mahalo.com during the final days session of the day. 10 very well done presentations were given to a panel of Venture Capital Funds by a group of emerging companies. The winner of the day long technology investment and networking event was www.magnify360.com.  The Technology Council Of Southern California does an exceptional job of partnering with a number of organizations that have significant databases of investorrs, Venture Capital companies, executives, consultants, and incredible new presenting companies.
